Tips for Helping Kids Defeat Top Dangers to Their Mental Health and Success: Tips for Advising and Motivating Them
Growing up in today’s troubled, uncertain world is tough. Parents and mentors are top lines of support and defense for children. But kids also need to learn why some things can harm their mental health and educational and life success, and how to defend themselves against dangerous influences and situations. How adults give information and advice makes a big difference on impact. This session will give general pearls on advising and motivating youth to protect themselves from perils, followed by specific tips on bullying, hatred such as sexism and racism, media use, marijuana, and sexual violence. Approaches that increase youth acceptance of advice and seeking needed help will be emphasized.
